The origins of halloween come from pagan traditions.
The very foundations of halloween are evil from the very beginning. It is playing with spirits and getting involved in the spiritual world without God.
Take the spiritual world, remove God from it and you’re left with unclean, evil spirits and demons.
Pumpkin carvings are used to create idols
Pumpkin carvings came from the same pagan festival halloween came from, Samhain. Their purpose was to create scary faces on the pumpkins through carvings to scare away evil spirits.
In other words, they carved idols as a means to ward off evil spirits.
Though some may not have worshipped these idols, they gave a supernatural and godly power to them in believing they would ward off evil spirits. Relying on carved objects and graven images instead of God is idolatry.
"4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Exodus 20:4"
Carving a pumpkin into a scary face to ward of evil spirits is an act to replace God’s divinity with an idol in His place to “protect” you from evil spirits.
But I never knew of this…
Now you know better… Stop doing it.
Would God want you to mimic and act as the abominable people and replicate the abominable acts of idolatry that they did? Would He want you to look similar to them? or be completely separated from them in all that you do, even in acts and appearance?
Can I still carve pumpkins?
Sure. But don’t follow the traditions of pumpkin carving during halloween, such as:
- Carving scary faces into the pumpkins
- Putting the pumpkin out on your window sill or in the front of the house
If all you are doing is carving pumpkins for art, then why does it need to be in your window sill or in front of the house? Why only do it for halloween? Because tradition? Well there you go, falling into the traditions of man again.
If you want to carve a pumpkin for art, do so but refrain from anything that would mimic evil traditions.
We are called out of the world and to be separate from it.
"14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

How will you be a light for Jesus Christ if people see you taking part in evil, dark traditions? How are you to be a new creation, separate from the world if you take part in the world and traditions of man? Will you look any different than an evil, wicked and unsaved person?
Fear and horror are the main theme of halloween
Haunted houses, gore, blood, guts, death, murder, etc.
The main theme of halloween is fear and death. It’s main theme highlights the origins and undertones of halloween. No matter how “wholesome” you try to make it… it isn’t. Putting make-up on a pig doesn’t stop it from being a pig.
"7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7"
Fear is not something God gives or has given us, nor does He want us to have it. Fear kills actions and breeds doubt.
The practices of halloween are soaked with fear and darkness. The imagery and visuals of halloween are so dark and evil that even grown adults refuse to participate in the activities. Yet, you want to breed this fear in your children who’s imaginations and faith are stronger, more vivid and impressionable than an adult’s? That’s evil.
The stories are always about death and the death is always murder. Even the “wholesome” movies and TV shows always have a creepy and fear factor in them. There are always elements of things that are ungodly and just not right.
"15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
Isaiah 33:15"
Every other day it’s a bad thing, but one day out of the year it’s good?
Taking candy from strangers? Talking to strangers? Sending your kids going out late at night… to take candy… from strangers!?
Insanity.
Need I say anymore?
satanists, witches, spirits and what the Bible calls abominations to God, love halloween
It is seen as a high time for witchcraft. Groups of witches will go out putting spells and vexes on people. They will go out into forests to sacrifice animals, worship false idols and burn effigies. It is their favorite time to commit atrocious and abominable acts. Why is it their chosen day?
The church of satan has their “satanic book”, the core book of their abominations. That book states that besides a satanist’ birthday, the two next most celebrated days are halloween and walpurgisnacht.
The founder specifically chose these days because of their tying into witchcraft and occultic practices. They are days right before original Christian celebration days for saints. Witches and evil practitioners would gather on the days before and prepare attacks.
“But my kids are just having fun, not doing any of that evil stuff”
Ignorance is bliss?
The Bible, it is written in Isaiah 33:15,
"15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;"
That’s like saying, “My kids go to orgies, sex parties but they don’t engage in any of it! They just show up, take part in the ‘fun’ traditions, show up naked, and are surrounded by it, but they don’t have sex! It’s ok!”
Or, “My kids hang out with gangbangers, drug dealers and pimps! But they’re just having fun! They don’t sell drugs or shoot up rival gang members! They just go out with them, dress like them and pretend to be murderers like them! It’s ok!”
Uh huh… Ok.
And then these same parents wonder, “What happened to my kid?”, “Why does my kid hate me?”, “How did my kid get hooked on drugs?” and say things like, “I didn’t raise them like this!”
Well… you did… by not raising them at all!
It is written in Proverbs 13:20:
"20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."
In other words, who you hang out with and associate yourself with will influence who you are and who you become.
If you’re children want to take part in halloween
You’re children do not read the Bible or follow Jesus Christ. You didn’t teach them anything. Otherwise, they’d want nothing to do with it. You’ve raised worldly children and children who desire to follow the world. If you did teach them, you probably put them in public school and surrounded them with worldly children, so they are becoming that way.
We know the world is evil.
You, as a parent, will suffer from your children as you watch them destroy themselves and make bad decisions following the world.
If it isn’t too late, make rapid changes.
If they are already following the world and in it, teach them. Read the Bible every day, not to them, with them.
If they don’t want to read the Bible, you can’t force them. Do not force them out of the world. Instead, show them a better world, God’s kingdom, and develop a desire in them to follow God, not the world. Teach and expose to them how the practices of other children, worldly people destroy their own lives and cause evil in their lives. Bring the word of God to them by citing scripture where appropriate and comparing the world to God’s standard.
Then, they’ll want to follow God when they see the path the world leads them down. It’s only natural.
Some questions I want to leave you with are:
- Why is it bad for children to talk to strangers and to take candy from them, but on one day out of the year it’s perfectly fine and encouraged?
- Why is it celebrated at night?
- What good happens at night? in the dark?
- Why monsters, demons, horror and haunted houses?
- Why carve pumpkins into scary faces?
- Why are the undertones of halloween all evil? Blood, witches, spirits, demons, undead, serial killers, possessed / demonic figures, skeletons, death and bones.
- Why do satanists, witches, spiritists and other abominable people love halloween? and gather on it?
P.S. I tried to use the safest images without losing the ideas I’m trying to show. It doesn’t help show the severity but all it takes is for one to search “halloween” and you’ll get plenty of evil and wicked imagery. And, even the “wholesome” and “safe” ones reference witches and the devil such as the one above.
