“And who will listen to you in this matter? For as his share is who goes down to the battle, so shall his share be who stays by the baggage; they shall share alike.”
— 1 Samuel 30:24
The people who go to war and the ones who guard the stuff will both share in the same rewards.
I’ve preached on the streets and oftentimes, the people around me will feel bad.
They are tempted and made to feel guilty being accused by satan, “You should be brave to preach too. You are guilty because you won’t preach. God is disappointed in you.”
But in the Old Testament, we learn that those who go to battle and those who stay back both will receive the same share.
Both are important roles.
The same goes for those who go to support a preacher. The people who hold on to equipment, keep watch and guard, help set-up, pass out tracts, witness to people, or even just show up to be there.
I’ve felt absolute appreciation and gratitude for the people who support me or stick around me while I preach.
Though they feel like they aren’t doing anything. They are doing A LOT. Just by being there and giving up their time to be there. It is extremely supportive and helps me so much.
It makes me feel more secure and safe which makes me even bolder with preaching.
Oftentimes, I don’t have the ability to stop and talk to people who may have questions. Having others there to talk to people and answer questions helps bring people to a more perfect understanding. It brings them closer to God as the answers can be specific to each individual and the word of God can be applied to THEIR life personally.
To all the people who are fighting the good fight by supporting street preachers, ministering to people, and more, you are absolutely invaluable. Keep up the amazing work!
Together with God, we’ll bring light to the world and God and His word back into people’s lives.
God bless and Godspeed.
